Soft. So very very soft. Tenergy05 on this thing was like hitting the ball with a pillow strapped to a pillow. I could see the ball reversing direction and I know that it wasn't because it hit my hand because I would've felt that. That's happened to me before and it feels like an object striking another object. There's also a sharp sound associated with the collision. But this was not like that. Occasionally on harder shots Tenergy would emit a plaintive beep just to let me know it was still there but otherwise there was seriously no feedback, very little feeling or sound. I played four matches in a RR tonight and it was one of the most unsatisfying experiences of my table tennis life.
However all this really tells me is that T05 is way wrong for this thing. It needs something much harder and faster. Otherwise what can I say? Control was fabulous, serving and pushing were much better than with the 550. The speed of the blade was in the allround category, not fast at all. The throw was significantly lower than that of the 550/T05 setup, so much so that many loops ended up in the net. On the plus side, that made blocking much easier.
I have an old sheet of H3 provincial sitting around that I'm going to try on it next. Hopefully that will let a bit more of the blade's character come through.
