Last year Hungarian team had a rough season at the LIEBHERR European championships. Girl’s finished at the position no. 12, whilst men’s team was 16th.
“After the very successful European Championships 2007 and 2008 the Hungarian delegation traveled last year home from Stuttgart without medals. This year, we hopes the women players can finish the European Champs 2010 again with one or two medals thanks the very strong Hungarian Women Team and the TOTH - POTA doubles. Of course we count on the world class performance of Krisztina TOTH in singles. She is always able to reach semi finals on the biggest European events” said General secretary of the Hungarian TTA Emese BARSAI.
In the group stage of the Women’s Teams Event Hungary will play against Czech Republic, Belarus and Sweden, whilst men’s team will meet Ukraine, Switzerland and Netherlands in Challenge Division.
“We can say that our women’s team could get much harder draw in qualification groups but we expect very heavy match against Belarus and home team Czech Republic. The unambiguous objective of our men's team is to finish among those three teams which will qualify for the Championships Division in 2011.”
Regarding to development and achievement of the men's players like Janos JAKAB and Daniel KOSIBA in the close past Hungary can hope for the Round of 16 in Men's Singles or Men's Doubles. “The last Hungarian men's player who could reach Round of 16 was Ferenc PAZSY in 2003 Courmayeur” reminded Emese BARSAI.
