Lincoln finals night on You've been framed.

I think this is around 1988, but I may be wrong. Don't know who sent it in, But its Myself and Rod Oglesby, vs Stuart Worrell and Dave Woods, Dave Woods is the one going into the crowd. I think that Rod and myself won as underdogs. Sorry for the exited vocals, I was not so sure when it was going to be on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0a3uK-7bf4

End of a long season.

Its finally over for me, the 2011/12 season has been a successful one, I've seen my national mens ranking fall slightly (down 20 places to 110) but my vets has gone up slightly from 36 to 32.

Winning the Lincs mens singles title has to be the high point though, and as I have only lost to two Lincolnshire players all season ( Mark Donoghue in the vets final and John Hancock in the Moran trophy) in all competitions ( I beat Paul Johnson in both the British league and the Haig...

I beat Eric in the final, in a quite exiting game, I personally always felt in control though.

Billy beat Karl in the consolation singles final, the first singles tournament he has ever won, so well done Billy.

The revelation of the tournament was Karl Wynne, he played superbly throughout, beating many higher rated players. A decently run tourny, that raised a few issued that have now been resolved.

Moran trophy tomorrow.

Sunday the 15th is Moran trophy day. Teams from Lincoln. Boston and Gtrimsby will go head to head in a round robin tournament. The Lincoln 5team is Mick Johnson, Steve Barnes, and myself, The other teams I'm not so sure about, but I suspect that Grimsby are going to field the seasoned campaigner John Hancock. John Malone is not available for Lincoln as he is playing in the Blackpool GP, so good luck John in that event.

Seedings for the Lincoln chams.....

I just expect it to be hard for me it goes with the territory. It can be favourable to have a hard draw though, if a player is to go all the way and win a tournament, surviving an early round close match can give a player a huge confidence boost, and get rid of any nerves.

Lincoln mens singles records

Thanks to Dave Brown for providing me with the requested records, it appears that I have won the mens singles on 11 occasions, level with John Radley, and way ahead of anyone else, the next being D. Merryweather and Stuart Worrell on 6 wins each. Seeing as I'm not over the hill yet, I would expect to break the record sooner or later though. I have not lost in this event since 1994/5 when I lost to MarK Donoghue in the final, there have been other winners ( Mick Dudman, Steve Brophy, Mick Thor...

Nice surprise with Tony.

I turned up for a bit of a hit randomly tonight, nobody was there at first but after a while Tony turned up. We talked for a while as normal, then had a knock. I would not normally practice with Tony, he had his ankles fused a while back, and it restricted his movement.

But what a surprise it was, he fed me well with an accomplished b/hand block, returned my serves well, Hit well with his f/hand, and in general had a thoroughly good attitude to the practice session, I e...

Gainsborough League.

Paul Johnson, ex county men's singles champion, has approached me to see if anyone is interested in playing in Gainsborough next season, probably playing from his blitz club as a Crusaders outfit. I would play, but would not want to commit to all the matches, so I think we would need a squad of 7/8 players, costs are low at Paul's club, and anyone who has a licence will not have to pay ETTA subscriptions twice, meaning the fees are lower.

New ball looming.....

As I've been trying to tell everyone, this IS going to happen, and dispite some comments that 'nothing will change' I've known for some time that it will, the new ball plays differently. Here is a link to a review by a top player.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tzo-PmL8IjA#!

Final round up of the Lincoln League.

I think massive credit to the league committee, they adopted the 365 web format, and it has really done wonders for the league this season, Lincoln really is a good league to play in, the drama, camaraderie and sheer quality of play is the best I can remember for years, and when looking back, I believe virtually everyone who has played in it, in both divisions, is really looking forward to next season. Thank goodness, we have really got through those years when we all seemed to be ...

Lincoln Champs looming.

This year the battle for the Lincoln mens singles title looks really hot, hotter than I can remember for probably 15 yrs, There is so many good players. For some recent years when I have entered this competition, they might as well have handed me the trophy as I walked in the door, not so this year, we really have 'game on'

I do prefer this, it makes winning more worth while ( If you can pull it off)

There has been a significant shift for the posit...

I did want to put this on the Lincoln 365 website, but I could not see where to put it.

I don't want to be big headed or anything, but I seriously don't know how many times I have won the Lincoln mens singles title, I know that the league hold the records, please by the next AGM could they look into it and tell me.

I suspect that it is not as many as some people think, I definitely won 5 before 2000, but there was a period when it was not held.
