A total prize fund of US$330,000 has been agreed for the Harmony China Open which commences in Suzhou on Wednesday 18th August and concludes on Sunday 22nd August 2010.
It is the highest prize money to be offered at an open international tournament on the ITTF Pro Tour in 2010.
Winners of the Men’s and Women’s Singles titles will each leave the southern Chinese city with US$30,000 with the runners up each being $14,000 better off.
Extended Prize List
Furthermore, the prize money is on offer for all who reach the round of the last 32 players; reach that round in either the Men’s or Women’s Singles event, progress no further and you leave Suzhou with US$1,600.
Seeking a Grand Finals Place
The effect is that with the highest prize money of the year on offer, the points allocation is increased in line with the prize money; a good performance in Suzhou will result in a higher place on the ITTF Pro Tour Standings and a greater chance of qualifying for the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals at the end of year.
Certainly, a place in the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals is one to be valued; the total prize fund in that competition is US$365,000 with the winner of the Men’s and Women’s Singles competitions each departing with US$40,000.
