A table tennis player's best performance does not depend only on the right planning of the training program, the use of the best training stimuli and the periodic evaluation but also on the right nutrition.
Athletes have generally increased nutritional requirements compared to an average person. A sufficient supply of the necessary nutritious substances is necessary for:
- Body growth (especially for the young athletes).
- The supply of provisions in nutritional substances and their use during training.
- The best possible replacement of energy spent during training.
- Various biological adjustments.
The table tennis coach as well as the player must know same basic facts about nutrition so that he will be able to understand all aspects of this multifaceted subject.
