Table tennis coaching - Coach's tasks (1) print email

The coach's first task is to establish a necessary favourable contact with the player, and this is the most important prerequisite for a good work. The mutual cooperation must be complete, and could be achieved only then when the play has full confidence in the advices of his coach, sure that his efforts will bring the equally expected good results. The best coaches do not speak too much, but they are constantly verifying all what the player has mastered. They listen carefully to the player when he speaks about his problem. This is how they can hear how has his work been reflected on the player. Good coach will always analyze good qualities of his player and will try further to impove them. It is also necessaey to try to eliminate the weaknesses, the same as to improve to good and strong sides.

The ratio is aproximately fifty-fifty. On the other side the player must become quite aware that he is playing much better and with more efficacy if his coach is behind him. The coach is not imposing the player the way how to play, but he is only directing him how to play, and the player will be responsible for following and realizing these direction. Every coach, the same as an artist, takes along something individually in himself, and for achieving as aim or result, he has a vision of his way; the coach, as an artist, makes models and has his favourite colors or methods of work. So, because of that, it is impossible to compare one coach with another that only their results for which is often required several years of systematic works.

If coach likes to be successful, he should re-establish good relation with a player. And it means that the coach must be sufficiently professional and motivated. He must posses above average pedagogical features having a great power of observations and capacity for analyzing success and failure. Beside that, he must be tolerant radiate with optimism and calmness even in most difficult situations, should be good informed and ready to hear responsibility in eventually debacle.
