In fourth attempt to beat German Timo BOLL in the final of the Europe Top-12 Vladimir SAMSONOV failed once again. German kept his record straight and with fifth title won in Dusseldorf at the LIEBHERR Europe Top-12 he is one step closer to the legendary Swede Jan-Ove WALDNER who won the big cup seven times.

SAMSONOV in furious start won the fist game. BOLL leveled, but once again in the third game Belarus was on top. However, after 1:2 Timo led by fantastic support in the fully sold Burg-Wächter Castello hall in Dusseldorf raised his game to next level. He dominated and however hard SAMSONOV tried to get a grip of the game, could not find the answer. In front of 3.200 spectators, BOLL was unbeatable.

“In fifth game I fully recovered and pushed Vladi down. I tried my best to prevent him of coming back and gain self confidence,” explained Timo.

We witnessed the two completely different edition of the match, with SAMSONOV fully in control at the start and fantastic finish of BOLL in closing stages. Vladi had 2:1 in games and 8:2 in forth game. “It was very hard at the beginning. I lost first game, but luckily leveled the match in next. It was very important that I won the second set, especially after 0:3 down,” said BOLL.

BOLL and SAMSONOV played against each other 35 times and BOLL won 20 times. In that situation, it is impossible to invent some new technique or strategy for the match. “When two such equal and complete players play against each other it is impossible that something unexpected can show up. It is only up to players during the game to feel each other and to change the rhythm of the game. On how fast and easy they manage to do so, depend the outcome of the game,” explained coach Richard PRAUSE.

Next edition of Europe Top-12 will be held in Belgium’s Liege in 2011 on February 5th and 6th.
